Processing and packaging lines consist of many interconnected machines and processes. The performance of the entire line is therefore not determined solely by the speed of individual machines. Buffers, faults, system availability, control logic and the interaction between components also influence actual output.
Dynamic material flow simulation allows these interdependencies to be examined as early as the planning stage. PacSi helps to determine machine capacities and buffer sizes, identify bottlenecks and compare different plant designs before investments are made or changes are implemented on the actual plant.
Determine machine performance and buffer sizes without risk in advance
Simulation of complex processing and packaging plants
PacSi was developed specifically for the analysis and optimisation of complex processing and packaging plants. The software is used in sectors including the food industry, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics and chemicals.
The simulation model depicts the material flow as well as the time- and quantity-dependent operational behaviour of the plant components. Control logic and dynamic influences can also be taken into account. This makes it possible to investigate how individual components influence one another and how the entire plant behaves over time.
Evaluating plant performance under realistic conditions
PacSi displays the efficiency and availability of individual components as well as the overall system. Factors such as malfunctions or product-specific characteristics can also be included in the analysis.
This makes it possible, for example, to compare different production line concepts, identify bottlenecks or investigate the effects of various buffer sizes and plant parameters.
Efficiently comparing multiple scenarios
PacSi uses a time-discrete simulation approach specifically tailored to the requirements of processing and packaging plants. This enables different planning scenarios to be efficiently simulated and compared with one another.
This is particularly helpful in the early stages of a project: rather than making a decision based on individual average values, the dynamic behaviour of the entire plant can be analysed.
Modelling without programming knowledge
PacSi combines the functions for model creation, simulation and evaluation within a single system. It is based on a standard library of verified elements from which plant models can be constructed.
A good understanding of the respective plant’s processes is important for modelling. Extensive mathematical calculations or programming skills, however, are not required.
PacSi can therefore be used in various project phases: from the planning of new plants, through the evaluation of modifications, to the optimisation of existing processing and packaging lines.
Use PacSi yourself or have the simulation carried out
PacSi is available to companies for independent use. Alternatively, SimPlan can deploy the software as part of simulation projects and take charge of the modelling, execution and evaluation of the simulation.
SimPacSi is also available to make it easier to get started with the simulation of processing and packaging plants.
